CrossLister Best Practice

Oct. 8, 2022 by Hawstein |

Introduction

CrossLister aims to be the best cross-listing tool and all-in-one inventory management software.

CrossLister is a more complex product than Depop Bot - Debob, which means it can be used in many different ways. You can use it according to your preferred workflow, but as the creators of CrossLister, we want to share what we think are the best practices.

Using templates

Professional CrossLister users must be daily users of the template feature.

It is enough to enter the same information once. You don't want to enter duplicate information every time you create an item.

One template for one category

During a period of time, you may sell one or several categories of products. Therefore, creating a template for each category is the best thing you can do. Once the category is determined, many of other fields can be determined as well.

One template for one category

Let's say you sell handmade earrings on Depop, Etsy and Shopify. Then you could create a template called Handmade earrings, and pre-fill those determined information in these 3 marketplace forms, such as Category, Condition, Source, Item Location, Shipping Cost, etc.

The screenshot below shows the Depop form for this template. You will be surprised that most of the fields can be determined for all items under this category.

Depop form for this template

The same can be done for other marketplace forms in this template.

The rule is simple: if a field is the same for all items under this category, then you can pre-fill it in the template. Other fields are left blank and added when you create a specific item from this template.

Create product from template

Now, for every category of product you are selling, you have a template.

When you want to create a specific item, pick the right template and create the item from it.

Create product from template

Boom, all the pre-filled information just sits there in your newly created product form. All you need to do is upload photos and fill in the rest of the fields specific to this item.

Trust me, this approach will make your list process much faster. And our enterprise customers will second this.

List your items super fast

What about the importing feature?

Some of our customers love the product-importing feature. Here is their workflow:

  1. List products on one marketplace (Depop or Shopify).
  2. Import these products into CrossLister.
  3. Cross-list these products from CrossLister to other marketplaces.
Import products from marketplaces

We would argue that this approach is only useful when first start using CrossLister. Since you have already published dozens or even hundreds of products on a marketplace, you certainly don't want to create so many items one by one again on CrossLister. Therefore, we release this product-importing feature.

However, the workflow above has two problems:

  1. We can't get all the information about a product on a marketplace.
  2. The product's information obtained from one marketplace is not sufficient for cross-listing it to another platform. Because each marketplace requires different fields, and the options for the same fields are also different.

Therefore, in your day-to-day workflow, when you want to list a new item on all your marketplaces, the recommended way is to first create that item from a template on CrossLister, then easily cross-list it to all your marketplaces.

Now it is your turn

Thanks for reading! We hope you got some value out of this article.

To summarize this article, there are two things that can be done now.

  1. Create a template for each of your product categories.
  2. Pick a template and create a product from it.

That's it. We hope CrossLister will reduce the amount of time you spend on repetitive tasks and help you increase your sales and make more money.
